How to register a new company

Business can be conducted through a company or as a sole trader.
In order to set up a company a notary deed is required. In this case the notary will present registration of the company and a request for a certified email address to the Prato Chamber of Commerce. Remember that the notary will register the company but statement of start of activity must be presented by an administrator.
In order to register as a sole trader Form |1 bearing a "bollo"(stamp) must be presented at the Company Registry. The sections to be completed are those concerning personal data, the name of the company, its premises, and those concerning the date of start of activity, with a short and simple description of the activity to be conducted. Form |1 must be signed by the owner and a photocopy of a currently valid ID document attached. If the owner is not a citizen of a state belonging to the European Union a photocopy of a permit to stay issued for the purpose of sole trading or for employment or for family reasons, must be attached.

NB: as of April 1st 2010 all applications for registration (as a company or as a sole trader) can be presented using the Sole Communication form. The form must be digitally signed by the owner/administrator of the company or by a delegated professional (e.g. an accountant registered in the relative Rolls).
Note that upon registering annual fees must be paid.

Artisans Rolls
In order to also obtain registration in the Rolls of Artisan Activities form AA must be completed with a declaration stating possession of artisan requirements as provided for in regional regulations. The registration number in the Rolls of Artisan Activities is attributed when the declaration is presented.
